decorating the outdoors

For the past couple of years, my Father-in-law has given us a fresh Christmas tree for our house. He grows them on their family's 400 acre property. My Hubby's Grandmother also makes wreaths like this beautiful one every year for the whole family.

I wanted to do something different in my large window box, and couldn't really think of anything too exciting. When I was putting these fresh Christmas greens in them, I stuck a couple of strands of lights and put these old ice skating skates and a big plaid bow. I wasn't really the look I was going for but I'm liking how it turned out.

One of my absolutely favorite things about Christmas is the smell of cedar, pine, noble, any of the Christmas greens!

Here is the front of the house, I made up some red velvet bows for the posts. I am thinking next year of changing over to burgundy.

Hi Emily! I found you through Royaltouch blog - and saw that you were from NY. I'm in Buffalo, so not too far. Beautiful outside decor, love the wreath and the window box. The addition of the ice skates is genius. Great job ... off to read more and visit your etsy store!
